Described as a mad scientist's penny arcade, a scientific funhouse, and an experimental laboratory all rolled into one, the Exploratorium is regarded as the world’s foremost interactive science museum.   • Inflatable: Expanding Works of Art on View
    From May 26 through Sept. 3 is a new exhibit featuring gigantic, fantastical, air-filled art works. In partnership with visual design blog Colossal, "Inflatable" features five creative artists' work filling the building from floor to ceiling. This is a summer must-see.
  • Leo Villareal's Buckyball
    More than 4,500 LED nodes illuminate the pentagonal and hexagonal structures of Buckyball, a 25-foot sculpture located outside the front entrance to the Exploratorium. Inspired by the work of inventor Buckminster Fuller, Buckyball is free to visit through 2018.
  • After Dark Thursdays at the Exploratorium
    Every Thursday, The Exploratorium keeps the doors open past its regular 5 p.m. closing to host After Dark events. Visitors can enjoy an array of unique programs and can experience the museum's 650-plus hands-on exhibits in an adults-only environment.
  • An Iconic San Francisco Attraction
    Touch, tinker, and play with more than 650 hands-on exhibits at the Exploratorium, and enjoy uninterrupted exploration. The museum's immersive art installations, live demonstrations, interactive exhibits and outdoor views of the Bay will spark your curiosity and have you discovering why the Exploratorium is an iconic attraction in San Francisco.
