Sonoma Welcomes Back the Sonoma International Film Festival

Sponsored by Sonoma International Film Festival

Now in its 22nd year, the Sonoma International Film Festival (SIFF) takes place in the heart of Northern California's wine country, and will feature more than 100 hand-selected films, including independent features, documentaries, world cinema and short films from around the world. All films are screened in intimate venues within walking distance of Sonoma's historic plaza. Named one of the 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World by MovieMaker Magazine, the Festival is dedicated to promoting independent film, supporting filmmakers around the world and inspiring film lovers.

Film Information

This unique, five-day event offers world-class cuisine from local artisans and exceptional wine from Sonoma vintners. Renowned filmmakers, celebrities and industry leaders such as Bruce Willis, Susan Sarandon, Danny Glover, Meg Ryan, and the beloved Robin Williams have walked the festival red carpet and enjoyed the intimate ambiance.

A popular highlight at the event is the SIFF Village, which will include its main Backlot Hospitality tent, food trucks, night time parties, happy hours, and live entertainment every day.

2019 highlight films include the documentaries Mike Wallace is Here, Art Paul of Playboy: the Man behind the Bunny and Fire of the Hill, and the Oscar®-winning animated short film Bao. The feature film Ladies in Black, the largest grossing film in Australia's history and focused on the impact of migration and women's liberation in the country, opens the festival at the Opening Night Gala on Wednesday, March 27. Stars Julie Ormond and Rachael Taylor will be on-hand to support the film at the Sebastiani Theater.

On Sunday, March 31, the closing night film, Sir, presents a stirring Indian feature on the human connections possible beyond the stirring and oppressive barriers of society, directed by Rohena Gera.
